Terms of Service

The agreement between you and widget.diy, in plain language: what you get, what you own, what you promise, what we promise, payments and refunds.

2026-09-12

Effective date: 2026-09-12. These terms are a contract between you and widget.diy. How we handle data lives in the Privacy Policy. Questions: [email protected].

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using widget.diy and embed.widget.diy (the "service"), you agree to these terms. If you disagree, don't use the service.

2. The service

widget.diy lets you:

  • cut a region of any web page into a live, embeddable widget;
  • author custom HTML widgets;
  • optionally publish widgets to a public plaza.

Widgets render the live source page in an iframe. If the source site changes, blocks framing (X-Frame-Options/CSP), or goes offline, your widget changes or stops working. We don't guarantee that any source page stays embeddable.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old and give accurate registration info.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account; keep your credentials safe.
  • Free accounts hold up to 5 widgets. Membership raises the limit to unlimited.
  • Every feature works on every plan. Membership changes quantity, not capability.

4. Your content

  • You own the widgets and text you create.
  • By saving or publishing them you grant us the licence to host, render, display, distribute and embed them as needed to run the service (including public plaza display, static pages and backups).
  • You are responsible for what you cut. Only embed content you have the right to reuse, and respect the source site's terms and signals.
  • Custom HTML widgets run in a sandboxed iframe. You are responsible for what your widget code does, including any data it stores via widget KV storage. Don't use widgets to collect personal data without your own lawful basis and notice.

5. The plaza

  • Publishing is a request, not a right. Moderators review requests and may decline or later remove listings.
  • Curation works on a fork: moderators copy your widget into a plaza listing and may edit that copy (title, description, story, configuration) for a public audience. We never modify your original. You can sync the copy from your latest version.
  • Public listings credit you as author (name and avatar). Ask us anytime to unpublish or anonymise a listing.
  • We may remove or unpublish content that is unlawful, infringing, or breaches these terms.

6. Restrictions

You may not:

  • use the service for anything unlawful;
  • scrape, probe or attack other sites through widgets or our infrastructure;
  • embed pages in violation of their terms or access controls;
  • store malware, phishing or abusive content in widgets or KV;
  • resell the service itself without our agreement;
  • interfere with rate limits or security checks;
  • create multiple accounts to evade limits or bans.

We may suspend accounts, remove content, or block abusive traffic that breaches these terms, without notice where necessary.

7. Membership, payments and refunds

  • Membership is sold as auto-renewing subscriptions (monthly/yearly) or one-time durations (1–5 years). Prices are shown at checkout; one-time durations stack with existing membership time.
  • Payments are processed by Dodo Payments. We never see card data.
  • Refunds: request one within 7 days of purchase for any reason. After 7 days, refunds only where required by law or where the service materially failed. By purchasing a digital service delivered immediately, you acknowledge that any statutory withdrawal right (e.g. the EU/UK 14-day right) is exercised or waived once delivery begins with your express consent — the 7-day window is our voluntary, more favourable policy.
  • Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals; paid time remains until it expires.

8. Intellectual property

Your content stays yours (see §4 licence). Our code, design, logo and plaza editorial text are ours. Nothing here transfers ownership either way beyond the licences stated.

9. Privacy

See the Privacy Policy — it is part of these terms.

10. Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a purpose, non-infringement). Source-site behaviour (changes, blocks, takedowns) is outside our control.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (zero if you paid nothing). Nothing here limits rights you cannot lawfully be asked to waive.

12. Termination

You can delete your widgets anytime in your dashboard, and request account deletion at [email protected]. We may terminate or suspend accounts that breach these terms, with notice where practicable. §§ 4, 6, 10 and 11 survive termination.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the service. If a dispute arises, we first try to resolve it amicably ([email protected]); failing that, it goes to a court of competent jurisdiction as provided by applicable law. Mandatory consumer-protection rules of your residence prevail where they apply.

14. Changes

We may update these terms; the effective date above changes with each revision, and material changes affecting accounts are announced by email where we have one. Continued use after a change means acceptance. If you disagree, stop using the service and request deletion of your data.
